About The Ministry
The Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure Development (MHID) was created by His Excellency Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, President of the Republic of Zambia following his address to Parliament on 30th September 2016. He announced the re-alignment of Ministries and institutions to improve efficiency in government operations. Thus, one of the re-organisation measures was the creation of the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure Development.
This meant transferring the Housing and Infrastructure function from the former Ministry of Local Government and Housing and the Department of Public Infrastructure from the Ministry of Works and Supply to create the new Ministry.
